August 10th - Annual Community Blood Drive at the DCU Center

Worcester Sharks Out For Blood Aug 10
At SMG-Managed DCU Center

7th Annual Community Blood Drive to be held August 10th in the Convention Center Lobby

The Worcester Sharks and the DCU Center have hosted a Blood Drive annually at the DCU Center since the team’s inaugural season in 2006. The Sharks are providing game tickets as incentive for donors, and the American Red Cross is kindly making arrangements to supply all staffing and equipment needs for this special community event.

The summer is the most difficult time of the year for blood collection since High Schools & Colleges provide 20% of the blood collected in Massachusetts. Despite people being on vacation, the blood needs of area hospital patients remain constant.

“The Sharks have a terrific partnership with the American Red Cross and we are excited to take part of this Blood Drive for the seventh straight year,” stated Mudd. “We look forward to see each donor at a Worcester Sharks hockey game next season at the DCU Center.”

“The American Red Cross is an important community organization that the SMG-managed DCU Center has long been a supporter of,” said Sandy Dunn, General Manager. “It gives me piece of mind to know how hard they work to keep blood supplies abundant and I hope to see many of our friends and neighbors come out to donate on August 10th.”

Each presenting blood donor will receive a voucher for a free pair of tickets to a 2012-13 Worcester Sharks regular season home game and a ticket for opening night to the Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus presents Fully Charged on October 3 at the DCU Center.

Limited curbside parking outside the Convention Center on Major Taylor Boulevard will be available for donors. Donors should enter through Door #2 of the Convention Center.

To ensure an even donor flow and less time waiting, donors are encouraged to call the American Red Cross at (800) RED-CROSS, or visit www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment to donate life-saving blood. Appointments are preferred however walk-ins are always welcome.   Please CLICK HERE to schedule an appointment.
