Central Massachusetts will be hosting Torathon: A Journey into Jewish Life and Learning on Saturday evening, November 7th with the first session beginning at 6:30 pm and the fourth session ending at l 10:30pm. Torathon is being held at Congregation Beth Israel, 15 Jamesbury Drive, Worcester.
Over 50 courses will be offered by the area’s esteemed rabbis, cantors, educators and community leaders on a wide range of topics which covers Hebrew language, Bible, Rabbinics, Philosophy, Jewish History and Life, Jewish genealogy. There will also be classes about poet Yehuda Amichai, Ladino Music, Latin American Jewry, Abraham the Father of 3 Faiths, Judaism and the environment, Grandparenting interfaith families, Israeli danicing and much more. The evening will be divided into 4 sessions with each session offering different topics. In addition, there will also be a special teen program facilitated by Hadas Nafshi and Itai Atar, our Young Israeli Emissaries.
In addition to the course offerings each organization and synagogue will have a table set up showcasing what they offer to the community. There will be a bookfair of books written by the presenters and they will be available for book signings.
Torathon is part of the Tapestry of jewish Life Cultural Art series which is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts and generously sponsored by the Siegel Family Cultural Fund and the Rotman Family Foundation.
Class offerings can be viewed online and tickets ay be purchased online through November 5th at www.jewishcentralmass.org/torathon or at the local area synagogues and Jewish Community Centers. Advance tickets are $13 per person and $10 for High School and College students. Tickets at the door are $18 per person and $10 for High School and College students.
