BOYLSTON, Mass. - Join Tower Hill Botanic Garden horticulturist Dawn Davies on Saturday, August 9th for an educational guided tour of Tower Hill's delightful vegetable garden. The tour is included with regular admission to the Garden.
The vegetable garden is one of the most popular features at Tower Hill during the summer months. Davies has been responsible for managing the vegetable garden for the past six years. Each year the vegetable garden has a theme, and Davies' creative interpretation reveals that a vegetable garden can be as fun and attractive as it is practical.
This year's vegetable garden is a carefully orchestrated blend of heirloom and hybrid vegetable varieties. Heirlooms add genetic diversity and culinary tradition to the composition, while the newer hybrids may bring traits such as improved vigor or pest resistance. The result is a harmonious blend of old and new. "In Harmony: Heirlooms and Hybrids" is an opportunity to learn about these diverse and delicious plants by experiencing them for yourself in Tower Hill's beautifully maintained vegetable garden.
Davies' insight will enrich and enlighten the home gardener, while highlighting some of the great variety of delectable heirloom and hybrid vegetables now available. She will also share tips and tricks for the successful cultivation of these enjoyable plants. One afternoon in the vegetable garden with Davies will be a learning experience with lasting results as your home garden flourishes from successful application of new skills and knowledge.
Tower Hill Botanic Garden is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm.; Admission is $10 for Adults, $7 for Seniors (65+), $5 for Youth (ages 6-18); Children under 6, and members, are free.
