Jazz -pop stylist and up-and-coming artist, Jacqui Naylor and her band will perform “acoustic smashing” music in a special concert presented by Worcester Art Museum and WICN Public Radio. The concert features familiar rock lyrics and melodies fused with familiar jazz rhythms and jazz changes, and will be held at Tuckerman Hall in Worcester on Saturday, March 27 at 8:00 p.m.

Acoustic smashing appeals to fans of jazz and rock music, as it evolved from Jacqui’s passion for both genres. Her innovative style is inspired by a unique combination of musicians that ranges from Billie Holiday, June Christy, and Nina Simone to Tracy Chapman, Natalie Merchant, Carole King, and Sheryl Crow.

“Jacqui pioneered acoustic smashing, just as other artists have blended different styles to create new genres of music, which is how rock & roll came about,” said Brian Barlow, Director of Advancement at Worcester Art Museum. “Worcester Art Museum celebrates the originality of all artists, and we are thrilled to host this concert.”

The concert is presented in conjunction with Selections from Who Shot Rock & Roll, the museum’s exhibition that features a selection of photos that capture the public and private moments of legendary rock stars, from 1955 through the present. Concert tickets are $30 and can be purchased at www.mechanicshall.org or by calling (508) 752-0888.
