Children’s TV characters ‘Curious George’ and ‘Ruff Ruffman’ visit Old Sturbridge Village Sept. 22
WGBH and WGBY members get free OSV admission
(Sturbridge, Mass.) Sept. 6, 2012 – Old Sturbridge Village will host a PBS Family Fun Day on Saturday, Sept. 22, with free admission for members of public broadcasting stations WGBH-Boston and WGBY-Springfield (up to two adults and two children per member), and appearances by favorite children's TV characters Curious George and Ruff Ruffman. In addition, visitors to Old Sturbridge Village can meet OSV's Heritage Breed animals (sheep, oxen, cows, pigs, and chickens), watch the printer, potter, blacksmith, and farmers at work, and ride the Village stagecoach. Curious George, the WGBH-produced television series, is designed to inspire kids to explore science, math, and engineering in the world around them in a fun and entertaining way. Based on the best-selling Curious George books by Margret and H.A. Rey, the daily series expands George's world to include a host of colorful characters and original locales, while maintaining the charm of the beloved books. Curious George airs weekdays on WGBH and WGBY at 8:00 a.m.
Part game show, part reality TV, and part spoof, Fetch! features real kids, real challenges, real science, and an unreal animated host—a dog named Ruff Ruffman. The WGBH-produced series teaches children ages 6-10 about science in a fresh and unique way, as the cast takes on wild and wacky challenges inspired by a variety of themes surrounding scientific principles. Old Sturbridge Village celebrates New England life in the 1830s and is one of the largest living history museums in the country. The museum is open daily 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. seven days a week.
