WHAT: AR Rahman, best known for his work on the score for the Academy Award-winning film "Slumdog Millionaire," will bring the ONLY New England stop of his “Jai Ho: The Journey Home World Tour” to Worcester on September 22nd. Designed in a manner that appeals to one and all, the concert comprises of India’s best singers, musicians and dancers, featuring all of Rahman’s latest super hits. For the trek, Rahman is collaborating with creative director Amy Tinkham, who has worked to create concerts for Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and Mariah Carey. Described as a "theatrical experience" utilizing "new technologies,” the tour will not only feature Rahman's music, but also dance arrangements and acrobatics inspired by his native India.

A two-time Academy Award and two-time Grammy Award Winner, AR Rahman is known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music. Hailed by Time magazine as the “Mozart of Madras”, Rahman, according to a BBC estimate, has sold more than 150 million copies of his work comprising of music from more than 100 film soundtracks and albums across over half a dozen languages, including landmark scores such as “Roja”, “Bombay”, “Dil Se”, “Taal”, “Lagaan”, “Vandemataram” and more recently, “Jodhaa Akbar”, “Delhi 6” and “Slumdog Millionaire.”
