Worcester, Mass. October 8, 2008 For the fifth consecutive year, the EcoTarium and Citadel Communications radio stations WXLO, Oldies 98.9 and The Pike are teaming up to bring another creative display of carved pumpkins and Halloween family fun to Worcester.
On Saturday, October 25 from noon to 9:00 p.m. the museum's 40-acre grounds will be host to Great Pumpkin Fest 2008. The event will take place over one day and evening and feature all kinds of Halloween festival fun as well as a display of hundreds of carved and lit pumpkins at night. The museum and grounds will be open for exploring exhibits, visiting wildlife, watching a free digital planetarium show, and enjoying hayrides, train rides, kids' costume parades, holiday-themed games, magic, face painting, pumpkin-carving demonstrations, crafts, food, animal encounters and much more. Children are encouraged to come in friendly costumes.
Making this a true community event, pumpkins will be carved by scouts and other local organizations, with awards in a number of categories. Organizations that would like to participate in Great Pumpkin Fest should contact the EcoTarium at 508.929.2742 before October 11.
Major support for this event provided by The Paper Store and Yawkey Foundation. Admission for Great Pumpkin Fest is $14 for non-members and $10 for members. Groups of 20 people or more are $10 per person and reservations must be made in advance at reservations@ecotarium.org or 508.929.2703. Advance tickets are available online until 4:00 p.m. on October 17 only at www.ecotarium.org. In addition, tickets will be sold at the gate on the day of the event. EcoTarium, A Museum of Science & Nature, is a unique indoor-outdoor museum offering three floors of interactive exhibits, wildlife habitats, interpretive nature trails, a digital planetarium, and a narrow- gauge railroad.
