Arts and Culture
The Central MA region is lucky to also have an artistic and eclectic side with museums and attractions for all tastes. The Worcester Art Museum known as one of the top smaller art museums in the United States, offers artistic gems and fantastic visiting exhibits. The Fruitland’s Museum is on the National Historic Register and is restored to appear as it did during the 1840s, and includes exhibits about the unsuccessful Utopian society, Transcendentalism and the Alcott family. Higgins Armory Museum offers arms and armor ranging from ancient Greek Corinthian helmets to ornate suits of armor crafted at the height of the Renaissance. Informative and entertaining demonstrations and programs bring to life arms and armor from around the world and across centuries! Also on the National Historic Register is The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts which hosts Broadway and world class live performances throughout the year. Just down the street is Mechanics Hall, an architectural and acoustic masterpiece that welcomes legendary performers from around the globe. The Museum of Russian Icons is America's largest collection of Russian Icons which features continuing speical exhibits.
Sports & Recreation
Wachusett Mountain, offers recreation all year long . . . enjoy their ski area with generous mountain trails and seasonal hiking trails with gorgeous panoramic views. Music, food, and family festivals abound on the mountain during the summer and fall. Central Massachusetts is a place where cultures and adventure collide and also a place to let you step back, relax and make you feel at home.
